My journey into weightlifting began with my dad, who purchased a bench and some weights, sparking my passion for bodybuilding. From there, I was hooked. Throughout high school, I was involved in track and cross country, and although I was very skinny, I always made an effort to stay consistent with weightlifting. By the end of my senior year, I had gone from 110lbs as a freshman to 154lbs, and I saw both my physique and strength explode once I focused more on lifting and less on cardio. However, I do regret fully abandoning my cardio routine, as it led to a decrease in my flexibility and overall fitness compared to my cross-country days.
When I entered college, the increased access to food helped me fuel my training, but I struggled to find time to rest between gym sessions and schoolwork. During my freshman and sophomore years, I didn’t see much progress. But once I introduced more rest days in my junior year, I experienced exponential growth in both my physique and strength.
